Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapy that can be used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and behavior problems in children. CBT is based on the premise that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected, and that by changing our thoughts and behaviors, we can improve our mood and overall mental health. CBT for children is typically delivered in a short-term, focused manner. It is also highly interactive and engaging, with children often participating in activities and games that help them to learn new skills and strategies. CBT has been shown to be highly effective in treating a variety of mental health conditions in children.

CBT teaches children and adolescents  important life skills, such as:

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Coping skills

  • Stress management skills

  • Emotional regulation skills

  • Communication skills

***All of the other modalities that we practice at the Child Thrive Center are specific types of CBT treatment targeting a certain emotional/behavioral challenge or diagnosis.
